The representative of the Universite de Valenciennes has visited ULIM

On October 4th – 5th, 2018, Dr. Jonathan Brindle, Director of International Relations Office from Universite Polytechnique Hauts-de-France de Valenciennes has visited ULIM. He has participated during these two days in sessions and working meetings with administrative and didactic staff. They focused on exchange of experience and shared good practices and on new prospects of inter-university cooperation.

The students of ULIM had also the possibility to participate in an information session where they found out about the partnership between the two institutions, developed under the protection of EU program for education, training, youth and sport Erasmus+. The guest has provided information related to programs of studies, facilities and activities specific to the institution he represents. During the meeting, some students, beneficiaries of the program Erasmus+ have shared their experiences, they provided information related to the challenges of the program, studied disciplines, the teaching-learning process, the participation in events and in the life of student campus of the host institution.

The cooperation of the professors of ULIM with the Universite Polytechnique Hauts-de-France de Valenciennes has started in 2013, when it was initiated the European project Black Sea – unity and diversity in Roman antiquity – a two years project – financed by the European Tool of Neighborhood and Partnership through the Common Operational Program Black Sea Basin 2007 – 2013, in which professors of ULIM and representatives of the mentioned university were implicated. Through the program Erasmus +, the two institutions have signed in 2016 an academic mobility agreement for two years. On the basis of this document, a successful academic exchange aimed at students and academic staff has produced. This inter-institutional agreement was extended till 2020. Therefore, the students and the didactic staff from ULIM were informed about the confirmed activities that will be implemented within the exercise planned for 2018-2019.

Dr. Jonathan Brindle considers that the partnership concluded between ULIM and Universite Polytechnique Hauts-de-France de Valenciennes supposes many common projects aimed at modernizing higher education, scientific research of didactic staff, improving the academic curriculum, intensifying the students’ mobility etc.

In this context, we mention that, currently, ULIM organized a competition in order to choose students that will benefit of Erasmus+ scholarships. Thanks to the Program Erasmus+, the chosen students may study one semester at one of the universities partners from Europe, Universite Polytechnique Hauts-de-France de Valenciennes being enlisted too.
