International Day of Reading Together at ULIM
On February 1st, 2019, the International Day of Reading Together has been marked at ULIM by the organization of a reading workshop in which have participated professors and students of the faculties.
By their opening messages of the vent, university professor, dr. hab. Elena Prus, vice-rector for Scientific Research and Doctoral Studies, associate professor, dr. Carolina Dodu-Savca, dean of the faculty of Letters, Irina Botnaru, director of Information and Library Science Department and university lecturer Dumitru Maxim, member of Writers Union of the Republic of Moldova have encouraged and have awakened the interest of the students for reading, mentioning the utility of reading for the intellectual evolution, achievement of good academic results, development of vital linguistic skills, improvement of cognitive function and generation of analysis and interpretation capacities. Passionate for poetry and prose, Moldavian and foreign students have read fragments of opera, poetries and famous speeches from national literatures and world literature in Romanian, English, French, Arabian, Turkish and Russian languages. Each student has received the weekly newspaper “Literatura si Arta”, a publication of writers from the Republic of Moldova, which will serve as support for detailed documentation of students.
The reading session was organized in order to cultivate the interest for books, to promote the reading and the fundamental values amongst students. At the end, the participants have received Diplomas of Excellency as appreciation for their active implication in the promotion of reading.
